I’m Kenya Marsh, a Yoga Coach, Course Creator, Author and Podcast host of “From My Mat to Yours”.
As a Mother, I have first-hand experience with the frustration, overwhelm and inconsistency; that comes with starting a new yoga practice.
Unlike others yoga teachers who have been practicing for years or who always say they knew they wanted to teach yoga, I was quite the opposite. No one in my family was practicing yoga. I was the first one in my family to go to college, got a degree, and a job in a career different than what I went to school for (which I ended up disliking). I became a Stay at home mom and was looking something to fill a void. I was the least likely person to start my yoga in the first place. So, I had plenty of self-doubt when I started in July 2014 having never practice yoga prior. I had no idea what I was getting into.
But by relentlessly pursuing this practice to learn my ideal pose a “split”. I went from yoga novice where every yoga pose seems foreign to a yogi who was confident and knew key poses to help me achieve my goal in just 6 months.
I've built up so much confidence and experience I became a certified yoga teacher as of March 2016. Since then, I have created a blog, website, a podcast, challenges, books and now courses.
#2 - I had limited time and limited money
Like you, I had limited hours to work on my practice each day. I was a homeschooling my son at time while my daughter started 1st grade and my husband had to commute to work.
I also didn't have hundreds of dollars to spend on a solid beginner yoga or a car to drive 30 minutes to the nearest studio. Neither did I want to waste my time sitting in traffic.
